This study aims to inquire into the effects of a 12-week complex exercise program combined with photosynthesis on muscular function of knee joint of the elderly with mild cognitive impairment. The research participants were oriented to 15 aged people diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. According to exercise by form, the research group was divided into three parts of a Control Group (n=5), an Exercise Group (Complex exercise program, n=5) and a Complex Group (Complex exercise program + photosynthesis, n=5), and this research carried out the test of muscular function of knee joint (maximum muscular strength, muscular power, muscular endurance).
According to the measurement test of muscular function, a significant increase was observed in the Complex Group in terms of R flexion of maximum muscular strength, and L-extension of muscular endurance (p<.05). On the other hand, there was a significant increase in the Exercise Group in terms of L flexion (p<.01).
In conclusion, the combination between Vitamin D absorption and exercise program through appropriate photosynthesis, and not the sole exercise program, can give positive influences on maximum muscular strength, muscular power and muscular endurance of knee joint of the elderly with mild cognitive impairment. However, the limited amount of research participants showed an increase in numerical results but it failed to draw a better result. It is estimated that it will be required to prove higher reliability through follow-up large-scale studies.
