The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze F.Q.D.O. and examine their structural differences caused by literary characteristics in the literature of the early 20th century. This study focuses on the syntactic structure of F.Q.D.O. which appears in Daehanmaeilsinbo and new-style novels. F.Q.D.O. means to borrow a type of quotation and define objects to emphasize the word or sentence of ‘A’, which is an object to define. The types are shown as type [1] and type [2]. The consequence of the study shows that in case of Daehanmaeilsinbo, the old-language structure is used up to 78% and the elision structure is borrowed by 22%. On the contrary, in case of new-style novels, 26% of the old-language structure and 74% of the elision structure are shown, which is completely opposite to the earlier result. Considering the F.Q.D.O. in new-style novels, it parallels with the phenomenon where the frequency of elision structures radually increased from 17th to 19th century.
