This study analyzes the interviews of Japanese students who experienced short term study abroad program in Korea, based on the observation of the extremely high percentage of short term study abroad program participants among all students leaving Japan for study abroad program. The results show that there are needs for the diversity of curriculum and textbook of short-term program as well as the Korean student assistant, to continue studying Korean language or to lead to a long term study abroad program. If the short term study abroad program includes diverse courses like speaking intensive course or writing specialized course, the possibility of re-participation can be increased among who already participated short-term program. In case of cultural program, students will be more satisfied if they can select the courses for the program on their own, rather than a monotonous program for all students. It can be a meaningful opportunity for everyone if there is a program which both short-term students and Korean student assistants who learns the language of partner students join and share together. This study expects that the positive impact on the improvement of the short-term program can be made through sharing various cases of Japanese students participating short term study abroad program.
