The purpose of this study was to explore manifested interaction and community formation processes that emerged in the cohabitation living experiences of the young generation. For this reason, we analyzed the data using the grounded theory of qualitative research and attempted to present a substantive theory. This study conducted analysis by applying research methods of Strauss & Corbin’s(2001) grounded theory.
As written in the results section of the study, the casual condition in the domain analysis by the paradigm model appeared as “joining community life,” “securing a pleasant space,” and “liberation from the frame of the original family.” Contextual conditions appeared to be both positive and negative. On the positive side, it appears as “friendship of eating meals from the same pot,” “forming sense of fellowship,” and “creation of self-governing norms.” On the negative side, it appears as “read member’s countenance” and “deepening conflicts.” The centralization phenomenon appeared as “staying in heterogeneity.” The intervention condition appeared as “breaking down the wall between you and me,” “the orientation toward diversity,” “harmonious cohabitation,” “rational life as a consumer,” and “self-reliance in the majority.” The action-interaction appeared as “standing in the place of others,” “learning the beauty of coexistence,” “breaking stereotypical frames,” “aggregation of beliefs,” and “rising self-development.” The consequence appeared as “becoming a family with warmth.” The key category appeared as “a family with faith and warmth under one roof while having started with differences.” In this study, it was worthwhile to discover that young people are forming new alternative families through cohabitation, and that they have become aware of this existence.
