The purpose of this study is to reveal that the students at the university literature classes can achieve self-reflection through writing and literary appreciation of ancient Chinese poetry. This article is the analysis of writings of a student who is participate in this courses ‘Appreciation of Song Poetry’(宋詩鑑賞). Students in this class were given three types of writing: ①appreciation of poetry and writing appreciation, ②experiencing poet’s life through ‘writing one’s historical novel’, ③and writing a letter to the main character of the historical novel he or she created. This method can help students to better understand the literature, also feel the pleasure of writing. It could be said that to write writings based on appreciation poetry enables people to understand poetry more deeply and reflect on one’s life,
