While critically reviewing the premise of interpretation shown by the preceding study of 『Yonggungbuyeonrok』, this article examined the attitude of the characters in the work and the meaning of the Yunpil-feast(潤筆宴).
First of all, the study examined Yunpil-feast from the perspective of royal ritual ceremony. The festival site of Yunpil-feast can be understood as a lyric that symbolically illustrates the process of the world and its subject reaching harmony through the utility of music(樂). The festive mood emphasized in the Yunpil-feast itself relieves the conflict created by hierarchical social structures. At this point, Yunpil-feast serves as an occasion for reconciliation and harmony.
Next, the HanSaeng(韓生) visiting the Dragon Palace as a stranger showed no feeling of loneliness or alienation, and had no secular desires. Rather, he showed curiosity about new things all the time. Through its non-routine experience, HanSaeng learns the reason and operations of the principles of nature, and comes to understand the reality itself at a new level. As a result, he leaves the world`s reputation, rumors and honors behind and chooses to live in a different way. This shows his idea of becoming more solid even though he is united with the characterization of the introduction in the work, which shows no secular desires.
If you look at the attitude of HanSaeng and the characteristics of the Yunpil-feast, the harmony within the text has the following connotation. first, the harmony between the stranger HanSaeng and the underwater palace of the Dragon King. To resolve the conflict and the inconvenience of oppression created by the hierarchy sublimating it into festive jubilation. Second, considering the current composition of the 『Kumoshinwha』 which is located at the end of music`s world, it means that after a number of agonies and attempts to understand, it has also come to form a new relationship with problematic reality.
In other words,『Kumoshinwha』 is a plan to reestablish the relationship between the subject and the others through five works, and to re-examine the major force elements is to understand the relationship between the subject and the world in a macroscopic way. And Yonggungbuyeonrok is the result of such an attempt to adopt changes in attitudes through new understanding, and reconciliation or harmony with the world.
