In the flow of pursuing the variability and interactions of architecture, color is expanding the element as a factor that can recognize the visual change of the work without changing the actual structure of the building. Many architects are using light as an element that can maximize these color changes. It can affect the spatial color rather than the functional characteristics of light, provided that it enables people to interact with the environment by experiencing various emotions. In this study, to investigate the spatial emotional characteristics of light, eighteen color glass spaces were selected. These spaces were measured with six pairs of color-emotion words, and hue and lightness of each space were measured to analyze the correlation between color-emotions and color-appearance attributes. The emotional characteristics that affects hue is the color-emotion group representing ‘the attributes’ of `natural-artificial`, `feminine-masculine` and `classicalmodern`. The color-emotion that affects lightness is the color-emotion group representing ‘the weight’ by `light-heavy`, `dynamic-static` and `solid-soft`. This study analyzed emotional characteristics that change by the light transformation, and it is expected that it will be helpful to apply color when planning space design.
