The non－fiction prose, which is called a supil, is the modern literature in Korea mainly composed of travel supil and lyric supil. Modern supils grew prosperous in the 1930s, and this development was led by Lee Eun－sang. The reason Lee Eun－sang was deeply interested in the supil was the influence of Japanese supil.
However, the supil itself differs from the Japanese supil. This was confirmed by the willingness to pursue the course of the national literature through discovering the advantages of the national culture but not the pursuit of the advanced world outside of the modern world while trying to achieve modernity through Japan.
“Tamlagihaenghanlasan”, “Nohbangcho”, and “Yahwajip” are non－fictional prose that were summarized as following: “Tamlagihaenghanlasan” confirms the national culture through the travel to the country and then symbolizes the disobedience towards the conversed nation and the desire of the race. The “Nohbangcho” which is composed as diary is mainly concerned with the reality of beggars, homeless people, and naked people.
This is a confirmation of the loss of sovereignty or that it is our identity, in that the diary is an honest record of personal deeds. In this regard, “Nohbangcho” has characteristics of a non－fiction. “Nohbangcho” is a collection of travel supils, lyric supils, and literary works of Lee Eun－sang, which finishes all contents with ethnic discourse. Meanwhile, “Nohbangcho” making its way through fables, in this respect, it reaches the “Goysul literature” of the previous era.
In the “Yahwajip”, it shows the Pro－Japanese thoughts monolithically. This was the “Yawhajip”s’ limit. However, it remains at the formal demand level to satisfy the publication needs of the 1940s.
