The purpose of this study was to evaluate excessive pronation of foot during dynamic movement as one of the risk factors and the reliability of foot orthotic for prevention of anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) injury. The kinetic and kinematic factors affecting ACL injury during landing were investigated. The subjects were 9 with same anatomical conditions to control anatomical factors that may affect lower extremity. Data was collexted by use of 4 infrared camera and 1 force platform. Statistical analyzed Independent t-test was done to compare between two groups and paired t-test was performed in comparison between the group with wearing orthotic and without. We considered the effect size to supplement the base of statistical reliability due to small sized samples. The results of this study were showed as fallows.
The excessive pronated foot group showed the tendency of increase of the maximal value the kinetic and kinematic factors of lower extremity. Tibial internal rotation, anterior share force and internal rotation torque of the knee were increased but statistically significance. but the values of effect size was which indicated significance between two groups.
The wearing foot insole makes the maximal values of the kinematic and kinetic factors decreaed. there is statistically significant in the angular velocity of tibia internal rotation as the kinematic factors between the group with and without wearing insole.
Excessive pronation may affect the risk of intrinsic ACL injury. Wearing foot insole to privent collapse of foot arch may decrease the loading which can influence on ACL injury.
