The purpose of the study was to describe the process of leisure-sports teachers` perceptions and experiences related to curricular change in after-school program. Three leisure-sports teachers in Seoul area were participated in this study during 2 years of March 2004 to February 2006. The new curricular that were attempted included Fitness education, Sport education, and Hellison`s Social Responsibility. The qualitative data were collected by the in-depth interviews and observations. The data were analyzed using constant comparison and analytic induction methods to identify and extract common themes among participants. Change began with frustration, anxiety, nervousness, uncomfort, dissatisfaction but progressed gradually to an implementation phase and the change continued. It is very important for leisure-sports teachers to have patience, knowledge, skills, deep understanding of changing social environment, and more importantly the strong will to try new curricular for effective leisure-sport education in terms of long-term education objective. Finally, experts teaching leisure, recreation, and sport should strive to create and implement the new model for their programs in which there are lots of limits and constraints.
