Naisbitt(1994) writes "...many things are in the process of being globalized." Today, leisure attitudes, tastes and preferences are anted out on a world stage. To understand the leisure culture of one country helps us understand the leisure of our own environment. The world`s leisure culture is becoming a overwhelmingly dominant predictor of the globe`s lifestyle. Leisure is shaping the way in which all people experience their own culture and that of the world`s culture. Leisure presents a challenge to all developed and developing industrial economies. Leisure promotes freedom, independence, growth, and provides an opportunities, if used in a wise fashion, to advance well being of the individual as well as society in general. The misuse of leisure can undermine the foundations of a healthy society. If leisure is valued and sought for its power, as mentioned in the introduction of the article, to sustain, enhance and enrich the quality of life it may in fact become society`s most powerful force in shaping the future in a positive fashion. If ignored or undervalued it be detrimental to our dreams and aspirations for the good life.
