This article addresses the negative effect of trust radius to social conflict when the social medias show ideologically polarized aspect. Among a myriad of social fields, the internet eminently makes individuals possible to be connected with people who have never met. However, the field only can present the part of social actions. Accepting stranger’s opinions is the problem of social trust and it works more importantly when communication takes place in the Internet. Therefore, this research aims to reveal the role of trust radius which promotes the trustworthiness of the online information. Results confirms that the higher trust radius increases trustworthiness of online information, and people who have higher trust radius actively seek for the specific information to avoid their cognitive dissonance. As a result, people tend to believe even the controversies filled with provocative words and recognize real social conflict exists. It can be called the dark side of social trust, because social trust is thought as a factor decreases social conflict in general.
