The purpose of this study was to discuss how better service could be conveyed to the elderly who use the free lunch service, by examining how much that service was actually used and give satisfaction to the users in the city of Taejeon. The subjects in this study were 443 people who were using 22 senior-citizen dining houses that offered five or six times a week free lunch in the city of Taejeon. When they were asked how they found the free lunch service, 93% answered they were grateful, and expressed satisfaction at the amount, quality and cleanness of provided food. So it`s found that the old users of the free lunch service were contented with the eating houses. To the question if they want to say anything about the operation of the dining houses, however, the dominant answer was that they wanted nothing from them, that they were satisfied with them, or that it didn`t make sense if they want anything more from them. This implied that being provided the free lunch service was seen as something like an unhonorable deed. It seemed that the service that intended to pay respect to the elderly was misunderstood as a sort of relief work.
