The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of family support for the old with dementia on the degree of satisfaction at the medical welfare facility use. For this study, a questionnaire was conducted to 98 guardians whom we got approval for the interview out of 173 guardians who took care of the old. Who were more than 65 years old, had dementia, and resided in the medical welfare facility in Daegu. The support of family guardians has been related to the four factors: (1) the symptom of the old before entering the facility, (2) the condition of family support, (3) the awareness of dementia symptom and the d of education, (4) the awareness of medical welfare service and the degree of satisfaction at its use. The results of the study are as follows: First, the family guardians who use the medical welfare facility for the old without realizing the seriousness of the symptom of dementia do not feel the satisfaction at the facility, its personnels, and its use. Second, the degree of seriousness of family conflictions influents significantly on the satisfaction of use. Third, the guardians awareness of the behavior of the old with dementia and of the ways of care to some extent influences significantly on the satisfaction at the use of medical welfare facility for the old. Forth, depending on the degree of the change of life before and after entering the facility, on the way to come to know the facility, and on the reason to use the facility, the degree of satisfaction at the use of the facility varies. Based on the results of this study, some suggestions are presented to increase the degree of satisfaction at the use of medical welfare facility for the old with dementia, and to run the facility practically well for the better quality of the old’ s life.
