This paper started from an interest toward right for learning of student athletes. The purpose and necessity of writing education not only have the same way with importance of liberal arts education, but also as most of the college classes are based on reading and writing, writing skill is a significant basic skill for learning. Thus, this paper aims to apprehend the difficulty of writing targeting student athletes in college who experienced lack of learning due to structural contradiction of sports related policy.
For this, the study investigated the writing experience and difficulty during elementary, middle and high school, and writing difficulty in college targeting student athletes of K university. As the result, the writing difficulty which college student athletes recognized were categorized into cognitive, affective·emotional, social·environmental factors. As the result of analysis, college student athletes felt difficulty in various fields that affect result and process of writing, felt burdensome about the drastically changed writing environment, and the most difficult element was lack of confidence.
Based on this study, there is a need to seek measures to improved writing efficacy of college student athletes in writing class for the students, and to conduct customized education to supplement the gap from lack of learning. Also the study result suggests that there is a need to use various teaching system such as tutoring or mentoring other than class to supplement the system.
