The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of teaching analysis based Christian early childhood education lecture on pre-service early childhood teachers’ Christian teaching efficacy and explore its educational meaning. Subjects of this study were 50 pre-service early childhood education department university students who take a Christian early childhood education lecture. Data were collected by Christian teaching efficacy rating scales (Bang, 2014), open questionnaires, teaching analysis journals, the products of class, and the data of students’ course evaluations. The results of a quantitative and qualitative analysis were as follows.
Above all, teaching analysis based Christian early childhood education lecture had an effect on pre-service early childhood teachers’ Christian teaching efficacy (both general teaching efficacy and personal teaching efficacy). Next, the educational meanings of cooperative teaching analysis activities on the changes of pre-service early childhood teachers’ Christian teaching efficacy were as follows. The first meaning was the formation of perspective about teaching through the sharing of teaching analysis contents. The second meaning was the development of teaching professionalism through the application on their own teaching and reflective thinking. The third meaning was the formation of confidence about Christian teaching through the teaching analysis experiences related to the theory of Christian Early Childhood Education. Therefore , Christian early childhood education lecture that contains cooperative teaching analysis activities is the meaningful teacher education plan on the development of pre-service early childhood teachers’ teaching competences.
