The purpose of this study was to investigate the methodological framework for studying the leisure sociology. A revised model of leisure research, for doing this, was suggested as a result of critical reviewing the traditional research framework. This model was an attempt to formalize both the theoretical and methodlogical bases for the social phenomena related with leisure experiences. The followings were proposed as the result of this study: First of all, a revised sociology of leisure suggested in this study would attempt to describe and explain the relational nature of leisure. Second, social relationships are the basic units of extended social networks of community, and so can be studied using techniques of social network analysis. Third, under the revised model, leisure is conceived as a social context which is characterized by the patterning of affective, non-instrumental relationships within social networks of community. Fourth, such relationships are activated for leisure, they provide the structure, order, and coherence for recreation activity participation and the for the social creation of leisure meanings. Finally, the revised model of leisure developed in this study would be applied an exploratory study of social networks and recreation activity in context of leisure phenonmenon.
