The beginning of mankind is a dance. The dance creates a culture. Now, however, the culture creates it conversely. The dance of the East is distinctly different from that of the West. Orientalism and Occidentalism differ from each other, too. Under a topic that a dance is no other than a culture and the culture is ideas of the contemporaries and the society, the difference of the East and the West is as follows. The Fast makes the dance-movement out of a circle; therefore the dance is the course of the development from an intention to an action. On the other hand the West makes it out of a beeline; hence the West seeks after perfectform and external beauty. From the viewpoint of our dance-culture we should sublate the thoughtless introduction of the Western dance, research our traditional dance, and develop the creative dance-culture on the basis of it. Whence I suggest the further study of human body and formal feature and movement principle on the Eastern Dance and the Western dance.
