The purpose of this study is to expand pastoral counseling practice based on Wimberly"s theory. In analytical psychology, individuation process, which includes discovering one’s shadow, anima, animus is a part of myth. Individuation process is a way, and this way is a myth. Wimberly, with a background in analytical psychology, argued that discovering the Self in myth influences one’s purpose in life. Wimberly’s concept of myth corresponds to pastoral counseling process, as they both agree that renewing life’s value parallels renewing life’s stories. One of the important issues in pastoral counseling today is one"s story of finding life’s meaning and discovering one’s identity in the midst of uncertainties. This study examines process of rewriting myth for Spiritual Renewal and story plot focusing on various relationship around the researcher’s life. Narrative inquiry is used for deeper understanding of one’s life experience. One’s story derived from a major theme, "father." A concept of ‘father’ was distorted, and this distortion influenced perception of ‘God.’ When distorted image of God is fixated, it hinders forming intimate relationship with God. When personal myth was re-written, it helped to form new concept of ‘father’ and to renew one’s relationship with God. According to this study, one can apply Wimberly‘s rewriting of myth to personal story, and it can help one renew life’s purpose and relationships. In this study, narrative inquiry is used for deeper examination of one’s psychology. Wimberly‘s rewriting myth can be helpful for many who have difficulty finding meaning and purpose in life.
