This paper deals with the response strategies of the Austrian Habsburg against the Ottoman menace by analyzing the Disputation of Benedict Curipeschitz. In 1530, he went to Istanbul as a Latin interpreter with his royal majesty"s delegation. In 1531, he wrote the pamphlet after his return from Istanbul, and published it in Augsburg. On behalf of Ferdinand I of Habsburg, King of Germany, he negotiated a truce with the Ottoman sultan, Süleyman but was in vain. He recognized the efficiency and effectiveness of Ottoman military and administrative organization. He argued that the Imperial Diet(Reichstag) must support Ferdinand Ⅰ, who fought against the Ottoman army on the Hungarian front. Therefore Disputation is a political propaganda for Ferdinand I, seeking for military support from the German Empire against the Ottoman attacks. It has been almost 500 years since its publication, but Christianity and Islam are still in conflict and confrontation. In that regard, Disputation is still worth reading for us. In addition, it helps us to understand history and culture of the Balkans. Especially, it shows us the reality of the Bosnian religious practices, culture, and customs under the Ottoman rule in the 16th century.
