Women of the Asia Pacific region are amongst the most affected by the world’s intersecting crises of climate change, deepening inequalities, deteriorating democratic space and growing fundamentalisms. To equip women to address the impact of these challenges, Asia Pacific Forum on Women Law and Development (APWLD) works to empower local women’s movements. Since 2012 APWLD has supported 27 grassroots communities from 13 countries to build their capacity to document their experiences, concerns and demands using Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR).
This paper will look at case stories of how FPAR as a tool has been helpful for achieving multiple impact objectives to bring about ‘structural change’ and strengthen feminist movements across the region under APWLD’s two programmes: Breaking out of Marginalization (BOOM), and Climate Justice (CJ).
