This paper investigates how Japanese Prime Ministers has changed their recognition of China and China-Japan relations through the analysis of General Policy Speeches since the end of cold war. In conclusion, more negative perceptions toward China and China-Japan relations has emerged in the speeches since the mid-1990s. A mixed image of cooperative and hegemonic China is prevailing in the speeches since the late 2000s.
