Korean traditional house is a space that allows in communion with nature through the ambiguous internal and external boundary. The communion with nature can make people feel comfortable. Due to these advantages, Korean traditional house has an important meaning and value to the people. It is an important design issues in all of countries to reinvent modernized residential space containing the spirit of the Korean tradition. However, it does not support any suitable residential services to the modern people’s life style. Smart living with IT technology supports a better housing performance : lighting, ventilation and view based on Korean traditional window. From this point of view, the Korean traditional house is modernized by fusing the advantages of Korean traditional window and IT technologies. The purpose of this research is to develop an algorithm to control the various devices and windows (Deul-E-Yul-Gae) installed in the modernized Korean traditional house.
In this research, we described the window open and close based on Arduino for comfort residential performance. This study attempted to derive ways of how to control indoor environment in modernized Korean traditional house. We emphasize that it can heal the body and spirit of residents with nature and provide the comfort residential performance.
