This study examined the Skeletal age and exercise training mediated changes of body composition, blood lipid profiles, and physical fitness in obese children. We studied 153 children (male 81, female 72) who participated in routine class of physical education. Subjects were grouped according to obesity index as obese or non-obese. Body composition (height, body weight, body fat percentage, BMI, body circumference), blood lipid profiles (insulin, glucose, TG, TC, HDL-C, and LDL-C), physical fitness(grip strength, back muscular strength, sit and reach, stand long jump, PEI), and skeletal age were also measured. These parameters were examined the changes after 12 week combined exercise training, and were additionally analyzed the relationship among these parameters. Percentage of body fat, BMI, and blood glucose level significantly (p<0.01) decreased after exercise training in both groups, but the other parameters of blood lipid profiles were no significance. Power, muscular strength and endurance significantly (p<0.01) increased after exercise training in both groups, but flexibility and cardiopulmonary function were no changed. We can find the relationship of height, body weight, body fat, BMI, and waist circumference with skeletal age. In addition, we can find that the skeletal age showed the negative effect of skeletal age to physical fitness as power and cardiopulmonary function.
