If there were single and the most important value for both scholars and social scientists, it would be the constant caution not to violate the integrity and objectiveness of scholarly articles by avoiding the conflict of interests. Unfortunately, not few scholars give enough attention to this principle. In such a case, studies are not quite different from political propaganda if not any.
The purpose of this study is to check the validity of the arguments asserting to repeal the laws establishing Korea National Police University (KNPU hereafter) based on the analysis of data such as relevant official statistics and telephone survey. First, we reviewed arguments claiming to abolish KNPU and checked the validity of facts on which the arguments were rooted. Second, we analyzed official statistics gathered from Korea National Police Agency (KNPA) in an effort to find out objective facts that were free from value judgment. Third, we interviewed 1,900 randomly selected adults nationwide. Then we analyzed the data collected from the public survey asking the debated issue. In conclusion, we suggested practical solutions to solve the problems that challenged Korean police organization.
