The purpose of this study was to suggest methods to give positive interventions on children"s war play by identifying the differences in the perception of teachers on children"s war play by the institution type, educational backgrounds and the teaching experiences. For this, 270 teachers of children of 4 to 5 years old, in public and private kindergartens and childcare center G city in J-do were selected as subjects. As research materials, responses from 210 subjects were used.
According to the analysis, children have more than 2 to 3 times of war play in block building area in a week. They usually use blocks to play games and boys mostly do war play. Regardless of the institution type, educational backgrounds and the teaching experience, the teachers perceived that children got war play ideas from ‘TV and Video’. There was significant difference in the perception on why children do not play war plays according to the institution type, and the education of teachers. Regarding the effects of war play on the development of children, half of teachers perceived positive effect and rest half perceived negative effect. Most teachers permitted war play restrictedly regardless of the institution type, and teaching experience. The result of this study suggests to find a consider way to promote teacher"s balanced and positive intervention on children’s war play base on teacher’s understanding.
