This study discusses about what problems and in what power relationship they have conflicts and make compromises with directors, actors and actresses, broadcasting companies and production companies in the context of a drama production process. To clarify their collaborative relations with directors, actors, actresses, planners (broadcasting companies) and production companies, while focusing on the domain of production out of the production-distribution-consumption cyclic process of TV dramas, this study selected a qualitative research methodology. As research subjects, this study selected a total of 30 drama producers, 14 TV drama writers, 5 drama directors, 4 broadcasting staff in charge of planning and programming dramas (CP/EP/BM), 2 production company CEOs and 2 production company producers, 2 entertainment management agency CEOs and 1 actor for in-depth interviews. This study tried to understand various phenomena in a broader context, and conducted ‘Thick Description’ for the in-depth interviews, and in addition to in-depth interviews, this study analyzed qualitative data collected from <Broadcasting writers>, a monthly publication, and news article. TV drama producers’ conflicts can be defined as a fight for power, and conflicts constantly take place among writers who have copyrights of drama scripts, directors whose background is the power of a broadcasting company over program organization, producers who own economic capital and actors and actresses who are likely to intervene in the production of dramas with cultural capital as a weapon. Such a conflict may be much fiercer as producing dramas are not systematically and reasonably processed, and the programming of dramas can be determined or canceled by various unpredictable variables.
