This essay is a content analysis on the TV programs of "Global Success Era" by KBS in South Korea and "Touching China" by CCTV in China. Its analytical focus is given on the role models of both programs, categorized into gender, age, job, orientation and social value, for all of them are very effective in playing the function of ruling ideologies. The research result shows some similarities and disparities. First, male characters in the both programs are over 70%. And the factor of age has a positive effect on female role models in that the older they are, the more they appear in the two programs. Second, the majority of role models in the two programs are born in the 1950s and 1960s. But the birth ratio of 1940s in "Global Success Era" is high, whereas that of before 1920s in "Touching China" high, and the age representatives of role model are more diverse.
Third, the job hierarchy in the two programs is totally different. The job order expressed by role models of "Global Success Era" is businessman, scholar, artist, athlete, technician and politician, while that of "Touching China" technician, worker, soldier, policeman, scholar, artist, athlete, teacher and student. Fourth, the priority of relation types to which the role models of the both programs is person, society, nation and family. The preference ratio of individual success in "Global Success Era" is 72.8%, while the family relation oriented model is just 0.3%. Fifth, in the social value of role models both of the two programs emphasize individual attributes and affinities, and community and responsibility. However, "Global Success Era" values challenging spirits, whereas "Touching China" on patriotism, work devotion and sacrifice.
