The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of smart-phone use on gait biomechanics and auditory cognition using with texting while walking. Fifteen healthy young men using a smart-phone more than three months participated in this study. In the key findings of this study, the subjects decreased the ROM of body segments with increased medial-lateral CV of COM while walking with a smart-phone use. ROM of head, foot, and lower leg were decreased when the subjects walked by using a smart-phone. Maximum distance of auditory cognition was decreased when subject walked by using a smart phone(p<.05). It is concluded that the subjects change gait strategy with a reduced walking speed and reduced ROM with a given task. However, the subjects would expose to more vulnerable position of the body to unexpected environmental changes as they reduce the ability to control lateral stability of the body and auditory cognition.
