Cheo Jeong-ik, chief editor of Sinhan Minbo, had been encouraged to invest in potato farming in California by Yi Sung-gi. The Korean National Association lost its headquarters building due to a bad investment made by Cheo Jeong-ik. The investment was made with the KNA headquarters building as collateral but when the investment went sour, the KNA lost its building. The KNA must suspend publication of Sihan Minbo(The New Korea) for ten months on financial difficulties. In those days a dissident Ok Jong-kyung of the National Renovation, Lee Kwangsoo’s close friend, conducted a campaign for anti-KNA movement.
Another immediate task the KNA had to pay attention to was sending money to Lee Kwangsoo to help pay for his travel costs to America. Tosan also made arrangements with the KNA for Lee Kwangsoo to come to America as the chief editor for the Sinhan Minbo and sent him a letter of invitation that would enable him to be admitted into the Sinhan Minbo. At this point the KNA will remit him travel costs to America if Lee Kwangsoo have neither part nor lot in Ok Jong-kyung affair. At last Lee Kwangsoo threw up his position of chief editor of Sihan Minbo. Taking this opportunity the unity of Tosan-Choonwon"s revolutionary comrade was made firm.
