The purpose of this thesis is to examine the compositional substance of Kim, Seung-ok＇s novels. For the purpose of this, this thesis categorized Kim, Seung-ok＇s novels into two series. One is ＇the initiative ritual narrative＇, the other is ＇the narrative of modern subject＇. The korean war and the experience of modern city functioned as source narrative of them. And this thesis provided that the identity sign of Kim, Seung-ok＇s novels is ＇the infelicitous consciousness of subject＇. Most of Kim, Seung-ok＇s novels are structured in binary opposition system. In addition to, tragical view of the existence and the world functioned as compositional consciousness of them. Such narrative traits formed structural homology with the infelicitous consciousness of subject. Iniation motif which is based on the ´discovery of evil´ through the korean war, functioned as dominant of the initiative ritual narrative. The confusion of identity and ontological complication functioned as compositional consciousness of the the narrative of modern subject.
