Present paper aims to explore the problematic related to the quality of life of seniors living in their homes in Tama New Town, one of the fastest aging and shrinking suburbs of Tokyo. It raises also questions concerning future of these places analysed on their large scale. The methodology of the research has consisted on examining the quality of life of elderlies living in Tama New Town on architectural, urban and social levels and concerning current and future situation of the city and of its elderly residents. The main research findings reveal that the successful aging in place, in the case of the Japanese society, does not rely on the creation of closed aging communities. The solution seems to be more in creating a mix society, a living places where elderlies would feel as a part of complex society and not as the only members of the society.
