The objective of this study is to determine the competence of housing contractors in expanding to overseas markets. To this end, a survey was conducted on employees and subject-matter expert of housing contractors with experience in overseas expansion. The survey includes methods and status of overseas expansion, environment of overseas construction markets, and competence of Korean contractors compared to the requirements of other countries. Since there are very few cases of overseas expansion in the field of construction, this study has limitations in failing to secure sufficient cases for analysis of the survey. However, this study is significant in that the research findings explored the current status of expansion to overseas housing markets that had been difficult to determine, as well as the competitiveness of Korean contractors and the competence that must be improved.
