Many Korean EFL teachers are skeptical about the efficiency of level-based class, regarding low-level students. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of level-based class on Korean EFL learners`` academic achievement. Data were collected from a total of 376 high school students and analyzed through t-tests and ANCOVA (analyses of covariance). The data confirmed that level-based class was effective for low-level students as well as for high-level students. According to the results of ANCOVA, the low-level students`` and the high-level students`` improvements were statistically significant, compared with that of non-level-based class. It should be noted that the low-level students`` academic scores were improved more than high-level students``. These results indicate that Korean EFL teachers may have confidence in the efficiency of level- based class, especially with low-level students.
