This study aims to analyse distributional characteristics of general nouns and compare it with dozens of individual nouns in order to show what a theory of inter-relationship between lexis and grammar would be like. The data used for this study is 9 million words corpus which have been morphologically and semantically annotated as the 21st Sejong Corpus. In Chapter 2, the research process used in this study is introduced as a methodology of data-oriented linguistics, focused on quantitative analysis. Chapter 3 consists of two parts, one is for overall distributions of Korean general nouns and the other is for varying degree of nounness across dozens of individual nouns. Chapter 4 shows that the analysis of lexical tendencies and grammatical preference play an important role in explaining lexical grammar from the perspective of corpus linguistics.
