This paper firstly aims to review of the Korean Semantics Research for the last 5 years. It includes Ph. D. dissertations, books, Master`s theses and journal papers. On the basis of this review, then, it shows the general tendency and problem of current Korean Semantics research. The review would include Lexical Semantics, Sentential Semantics, Cognitive Semantics, and Pragmatic Semantics. The total number of books and papers was 276 and they could be divided as follows. ㆍLexical Semantics 90 ㆍMorphological Semantics 20 ㆍSentential Semantics 27 ㆍCognitive Semantics 17 ㆍPragmatic Semantics (including Discourse Semantics) 68 ㆍLogical Semantics 8 ㆍSemantics General 36 In the above statistics, Lexical Semantics which includes Korean Lexical Field Theory takes the first place in quantity. The next place goes to Pragmatic Semantics which includes Discourse Semantics. The above studies show that the quantity and quality of Semantics research has increased recently. Especially, the increasing number of Master`s theses in Semantics discipline seems to promise a bright future for Semantics study in Korea. Unfortunately, however, Logical Semantics, Sentential Semantics, and Cognitive Semantics researches are more neglected in comparison with Lexical Semantics. Since the meaning of an utterance must be interpreted and understood in terms of a sentence(even a discourse or text) as a whole not by word by word, Sentential Semantics including Logical Semantics should be extended and deepened. Since the use and interpretation of speech is mostly based on the speakers` cognition, Cognitive Semantics should also be strengthened not only in quantity but also in quality.
