An academic tradition developed around Ha-gok is called the science of Ha-gok, that of Kang-hwa, that of Kang-hwa Yang-ming, that of Kang-hwa Ha-gok, the factional school of Kang-hwa Ha-gok, etc. It was a disciple of Yin-bo Jeong, Yeong-gyu Min, who firstly prescribed a school as an academic tradition of being developed around Ha-gok in a location of Kang-hwa. And then a term of the factional school of Kang-hwa was generally spread. As we recognized, later, it was divided into several fields. The root of its thought was the school of Yang-ming. As a science of the mind and body, the factional school of Kang-hwa can be prescribed as a group of scholars who aim at the exhaustion of Liang-zhi in the school of Yang-ming. The school of Yang-ming gets to the point that the Heavenly Principle is not the abstract law in the outside of the heart-mind, but the moral heart-mind of original substance which is immanent to all human beings. It is the Heavenly Principle which reveals brightly and naturally in the moral heart-mind of original substance. Therefore, where the Heavenly Principle reveals brightly is a manifestation of Ling-zhi as the heart-mind of original substance. Ha-gok succeeded to this thought of Yang-ming, and, at the same time, substituted a concept of Liang-zhi by that of substantial mind. When reading a collection of Yang-ming, Ha-gok recognized the improperly abuse that "one releases feelings and freely gives off desires in one's heart-mind". On this ground, he criticized a few pseudo sciences in his contemporary times. He prescribed the sciences of anti-Laing-zhi as pseudo. Here, the word pseudo is referred to not as the state of being in contrast with the objective truth in searching for facts, but as that of being lost the subjectivity of human beings. Thus, the state of maintaining the subjectivity of human beings is nothing other than the substantial mind. Ha-gok's disciples and successors developed their studies on the theoretical ground of his substantial mind. The school of Toe-gye is referred to as that of Toe-gye and his successors developed around a location of An-dong. What is worth noticing is that the school of Toe-gye is not called the school of An-dong which is after one name of location. So, it is true that the school of Ha-gok was developed around a location of Kang-hwa, but actually there is no local character of Kang-hwa in the thought of Ha-gok and his disciples. The school of Kang-hwa has a universal value of the true human mind, that is, the substantial mind. Thus, I propose that the school of Ha-gok should be called in the sense that it illuminated the universality of mankind rather than made a local enclose of Kang-hwa.
