The purpose of the study was to target female college students who were diagnosed with osteopenia and belonged to the osteoporosis risk group, to provide data about the correlation between isokinetic muscle and bone density, and to present a direction for muscle exercise for improvement of bone density. The subjects were 8 basketball players and 8 general student(control goup) of university club and their isokinetic muscular strength and bone mineral density were measured. Their body composition was estimated using InBody 4.0. Their BMD and BMC were measured with Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry(PRODIGY, GE Medical System Lunar). Isokinetic strength is peak torque(Nm), peak torque/BW(%), Agon/Antag ratio(%) at 60·180·300deg/sec of the knee extension and flexion were measured using an Biodex Co. USA.The variables of isokinetic muscle strength, which had the greatest influence on bond density, were muscle power, maximum muscle strength, and muscle endurance, in case of exercises at angular speeds of 60°/sec and 180°/sec. This study assumed that the extension exercise would be important for improvement of bond density of female college students.
