This study aims to shed light on key points and the improvement direction in the subway information design system to enhance convenience and comfort in use of the subway in Seoul. All the stations of Seoul subway correspond to the objects and an scope of the present research but the important concept as the information guide system is selected by analyzing cases centered on main subway junctions of the 2nd subway Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation(SMRT) is in charge of, and if necessary, cases of diverse stations including overseas ones are used for specimens for reference. For the processes and methods to proceed on the study, First of all, key points in the information guide system are shared analyzing the nature of environment of the Seoul subway`s information guide system. Especially, we are to approach more efficient information guide system using all the human senses including auditory sense and tactile sense deviating from the recognition to consider the information guide system as only the object visual information and the sign material of in the aspect of design. Additionally, as the human cognition and perception systems are important factors to give rise to behaviors, we are to understand the root of problems the Seoul subway`s information guide system has by organizing relations of space and perceptual system which are the objects of cognition and design in the information guide system, and get the direction of solution of our problems through investigation of design and cases of information systems in the advanced countries. Especially, aspects to be considered in the aspect of its design along with the improvement direction in the macro perspective to be solved for efficiency of the Seoul subway`s information guide system were provided with diverse view points and cases including the division between dimensions of information and scheme, minimization of information, intuitional cognition and other factors to strengthen support of information recognition, and by this, we intended to clarify the aiming point of the information guide system which is efficient to use the subway.
