Compared to advanced countries, the history of domestic design is relatively short, but it has been grown very quickly with the various entities and agencies` recognition of design and the active implement of promotion policies. Contributed to the enhancement of domestic design level are such factors as the recognition improvement of design through the Korea Design Exhibit established by the government, the cultivation of many design specialists by quick increase of opening design course in colleges, the increased corporate employment of designers by its improvement of recognition of designers, and the activation of international exchange of design. Recently, such levels of design as not being fall behind international levels have gradually increased in a variety spheres. However, indiscreet implement of design promotion policies has raised other problems in reality. Only the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (Korea Institute of Design Promotion) carried out domestic design policies in the past, but recently virtually all the governmental agencies and entities including the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security try to enact design promotion laws, resulting in severe adverse effects and problems such as disorder and overlapping investment. All the while, many design entities and societies have presented a lot of studies, proposals and recommendations for domestic design policies, but there is no main body to discuss and accept them, thus resulting in insufficient arrangement of classified design promotion policies. In this regard, the aim of this study was to examine a powerful integrated promotion policy for domestic design with which the disorder and overlapping investment in the circle of design could be avoided and all the design policies could be worked out and carried out by only one governmental agency in order to manage systematic design promotion policies more effectively and practically. If a powerful governmental agency could be organized to work out more efficient design promotion policies which had been carried out by many agencies and entities up to now and to manage them in an integrated manner, all the spheres of domestic design industry would be improved all the more and could prepare a basis on which the brand values of domestic design industry would be improved internationally.
