A clay doll(To-Woo) is being found in every country. It appeared in Egypt, Mesopotamia, and the Aegean Islands from the Neolithic Age. In China, it showed its appearance during the period of "Yang sao Culture". It also had been made since in the middle of "Jomon" period in Japan. The clay dools are found numerous but none of them are in perfect shape. This shows that the ancient people cut some parts of the doll`s body intentionally to impute diseases, damages, and disasters to them, as a sign of occult. Silla clay doll is the representative one in Korea and few has been known which was from Koryo. Some white porcelains called `Myungi` of Chosun were made for burial with the dead that were like human and animal, and living tools. Usually, when we say Korean clay doll, that`s the one from Silla. It`s research methods, and the category is Silla clay doll study. It normally indicates on independent statue of person and animal. However, when we think about the main purpose of making it to be its religious expression of occult and burial with the dead for tombs, it ranges far more than that. The Sanghyung earthen ware which has been called as Yihyung earthen ware so far, and some small clay dolls that were used for decoration of earthen wares are the ones which are considered in the broader meaning of clay doll. Silla clay doll, As an independent statue of person or animal is more like Doyoung from China, which expresses setiment and body movements and is 10 or 20 cm tall, with the statue of horse riding person, singing or playing instruments. Especially the genitals of the men and woman`s statue were exaggerated, which are understood now as occult religious expression for having rich harvest and lots of births. The results of this research are Silla clay doll is distinguished by its simplicity humorous expression that is considered to be useful for a modern design and its application, particularly with the flexible application for diverse and short life-cycle world for package design. This research is for the purpose of The clay doll will give us a room for developing it into a unique graphic after being applied to the symbol and B1 system character which is related with the package design and the new suggestion for the design of vessel.
