DaiZhen is a well-known scholar of the mid-Qing period. He presented a new way to interpret the scriptures. In other words, he renewed the way to interpret old sentences. Historically, researches on scriptures have caused many different interpretations. However, DaiZhen"s thought of interpreting the scriptures was objective. This was the way to research the words and pronunciations.
Languages change its meaning all the time. Ancient sentences are too old to know their clear meaning. Therefore, DaiZhen researched ancient sentences with their words and pronunciations. This way of researching is the most objective. DaiZhen researched chinese ancient philosophy and literary works with this way. But, from now, there were few researches about his literatures. DaiZhen left many resources in literature. Especially, he researched the meaning of "Shijing" and "Chuci".
He represented a new ideology when he researches literatures. First, writers should learn scriptures" meaning. Second, literary works should reveal the meaning of scriptures. Third, the meaning of scriptures, studying historical evidence, sentences should be unified. Fourth, to research ancient sentences, we should know the meaning of the of the words. Fifth, literary works can be interpreted by interpreting the words. Along those lines, DaiZhen interpreted literary works by the words. This way has advantages and disadvantages at once. But, there is a strong feature that made philosophy and literature together.
