This research aims to compare poems of resurrection of Sin Gyong Lim and Yeats, a world they saw and created beyond wisdom of the old age through their later poems. The comparison aims to recover the subject and unify split self to look into art, notably dance. To accomplish this, examined was objective understanding on the process of attaining a sense derived from dance into language, ecstasy of catharsis, and enlightenment in their poems.
Yeats adopted a ‘dancing girl’ for a mediator of boundary. Whereas Sin Gyong Lim’s poem ‘The Camel’ is a poet who devoted himself to each line of it and followed his path throughout his lifetime, Yeats’s image ‘Dance’ stands for language of poem-imaged unified soul and body, indicating a manifested poem and an incarnated language. For Sin Gyong Lim, ‘Shinmyong (excitement)’ serves as a group ‘dance.’ It is Shinmyong of a group that has no outline of boundary between viewer and dancer, including unification of contradicts. This is a world of art where the poet created a dance of language with experience sensuously obtained.
Although a place Turkey is coincidental in Yeats’s Byzantium and Sin Gyong Lim’s Faraway Land, they found ‘art of life’ the nearest thing to our life and seen from the most perfect ensemble of life and death in their boundary. This is everyday life, and an eye of artist who can read and detect the life, which can be found in artists’ work of art.
Sin Gyong Lim’s Shinmyong and Yeats’s Dance serve as mediacy that recovers the subject in the boundary of death and achieves art. Furthermore, in their poems, a landscape of sadness, a wish of dream, death and wisdom of the old age, resurrection, and recovery of youthfulness found a rhythm of Shinmyong and dance, achieving unification. This indicates two poets living faraway encounter one another with ‘dance of language’ when they cross the boundary of them, dreaming each different faraway land.
