Shrine myths were generated and handed down upon the history, natural environment, occupation and political base that a tradition group is based on. Accordingly, shrine myths were able to form semantic network amidst the relations with the base for transmission and to assume the transmission power. To put it differently, it is possible to claim that shrine myths are drawing out meaning of the diverse contexts that are related to the base for transmission. Accordingly, the initiative of examining the correlation between two parties can contribute to explaining community’s life and culture.
Uljin fishery town..s shrine myths were handed down while forming close-knit relations with local administrative area system, the town..s history, mountain which is a natural environment, quasi farming and quasi fishing occupational activity, family clams and autonomous organizations. shrine myths related to history encompass issues related to the generation of divinity, and identity. Meanwhile, shrine myths related to the natural environment reveal the source of spiritual experience of divinity. Shrine myths related to occupation details out the goals for wishing for big catch or maritime safety. In case of shrine myths related to political order, it was possible to verify that they conceptualize the relationship between gods and human being and among the human beings. Accordingly, relationship between the base for transmission and shrine myths can be interpreted from the ancestral rites legitimacy aspect. Moreover, it is possible to examine dynamism as well since extinction and transmutation of shrine myths take place according to the change in the base for transmission.
