This study was executed to examine fasting blood glucose and post prandial glucose after 2 hours targeting university students in Seoul city areas (approximately 300 students: male/female). Exercising was classified into 4 stages (longer than 3 hours, 2 to 3 hours, 1 to 2 hours, shorter than 1 hour) and the levels were calculated as total exercise for a week. Study results about fasting blood glucose and post prandial glucose levels according to the exercising time of twenty’s university students showed the following conclusions.
1. Fasting blood glucose in the group who exercised for more than 4 hours a week showed normal levels which were stable and even both in male and female students. Additionally in post prandial glucose after 2 hours, both male and female students showed blood glucose levels within the normal ranges.
2. Fasting blood glucose in the group who exercised for 2 to 3 hours a week showed normal ranges of blood glucose levels both in male and female students. And post prandial glucose after 2 hours showed stable blood glucose levels within the normal ranges both in male and female students.
3. Fasting blood glucose in the group who exercised for 1 to 2 hours a week showed blood glucose levels within the normal ranges both in male and female students. And post prandial glucose after 2 hours showed stable blood glucose levels within the normal ranges.
4. Regarding the fasting blood glucose in the group who exercised for shorter than 1 hour a week, male students showed blood glucose levels within the normal ranges, but female students showed a little higher blood glucose levels in disturbed glucose tolerance levels. And, post prandial glucose after 2 hours showed blood glucose levels which are a little higher disturbed glucose tolerance levels.
According to the above study results, normal blood glucose levels were identified in the group who exercised at least 1 hour in a week and experienced active body activities both in fasting blood glucose and post prandial glucose after two hours. Study results are considered to show the possibility that insufficient exercise in young generation could produce potential diabetic patients in the future. It is judged that the young generation who are now living in the world when diabetic population is geometrically increasing globally should have active attitudes with the caution that they could be insecure from the diabetes.
