The purpose of this study is to analyze Iraq war and to propose the foundations and tasks of christian peace movement in the age of violence and terrorism. For the analysis of Iraq war, I looked into the background of Iraq war and the ustification of war presented by the American govemment. Then I criticized Iraq war from the general perspective. The grounds of critics are presented as follows. 1. The causes of Iraq war presented by the American govemment cannot be justified. 2. The American government conducted Iraq war by strategic purpose for the domination of the world. 3. The American govemment is unqualified to conduct a war of anti - terrorism, because it has many past records of inflicting a terroristic acts on many countries. Moreover, in the perspective of christian ethics, I demonstrated that Iraq war as a retaliative war is unjustifiable, too. Iraq war cannot be justified by both pacifism and just war theory. A retaliative war is not an alternative of violence and terrorism. There is no other way to solve the problem of terrorism but in peace. As Johan Galtung said, Peace must be achieved by peaceful means no matter what. In this point, christianity can contribute to the world peace, because the gospel of christianity is the gospel of peace. On this assumption, I proposed why christians must take the leading role in making the peaceful world. These foundations were presented from three points of christology, ecclesiology and eschatology. In conclusion, I presented four tasks of christian peace movement. 1. Christians must recover the identity of christian church as the community of peace. 2. Christians must overcome cultures of violence in all realm of life. 3. Christians must establish the responsible pacifism. 4. Christians must make an endeavor to remove injustice, the cause of violence and to extend a helping hand.
