The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of 15wks(weeks) detraining on body composition, physical fitness and vascular compliance in obese male adolescents. Eighteen obese male adolescents (detraining=12, control=6) were participated in the study. Body composition parameters were measured by DXA (Hologic, QDR-4500, USA). European physical fitness test which includes 9 items (flamingo balance, plate tapping, sit and reach, grip strength, sit-ups, standing long jump, bent arm hang, 50m shuttle run, and 20m multi-stage endurance shuttle run) was applied. Vascular compliance at the sites of upper left hand, upper right hand, lower left foot, and lower right foot was measured by PWV 3.0(KM-Tec, korea). The result indicated that lean body mass and bone mineral content significantly increase at both groups after 15wks detraining. However, percent body fat decreased in both groups. Although no change was obtained for whole body bone mineral density, bone mineral content increased in both groups. There were significant interact changes in flamingo balance, plate tapping, and 20m multistage endurance shuttle run test at both groups. There was a significant decrease for vascular compliance at lower right foot in control group but no change was shown in detraining group. In conclusions, this study suggests that 15wks detraining influences on body composition, physical fitness, and vascular compliance in obese adolescents.
