This study investigated the influence of sociodemographic factors on the social acceptance of the Korean female participation in sports. Total 580 subjects who live in Seoul city and over 10 years old were sampled from May 10 to May 21 in 1999 and finally 548 subjects were accepted by the systematic strati5ed cluster random sampling method. The questionnaire was based on Metheny(1972), Rintala R Birrell(1%4), and Kane(1%8)'s sports field dassification for male and female and Kim, Yang - Rea (1998)'s survey questionnaire after testing the validity and reliance. Statistical methods for data analysis was Descriptive analysis and One-way ANOVA using the SPSS/PC+ statistical package. Based on the above procedures, the following results were warranted: 1. For sex, the female were generally more affirmative than the male in the female's sports participation. 2. For age, the old generally showed lower acceptance than the young, especially in baseball, soccer, wrestling, boxing, Korea traditional wrestling, weight lifting, judo, hockey, rugby. 3. For educational level, there were statistically significant differences between higher educated and lower. But, there was no clear tendency in the differences. 4. For income, the rich were generally more affirmative in the female's sports participation, especially in baseball and golf. But contrary to that, in basketball, they showed lower acceptance. 5. For job, there were statistically significant differences. But there was no clear tendency in them.
