This dissertation aims at exploring influences which socialization factors of sports, more precisely personal attributes, socializing agents, and socialization situation of sports, have on the participation of the physically handicapped in mass sports. For this purpose the research was administered to 351 male and female adults dwelling in both Kyeonggi Province and Seoul. Data were collected through samples by means of cluster sampling method. The questionnaire for data collection of this study was based on those used in domestic previous studies, and used them after examing the verification of validity and reliability through pilot test. The methods of Statistics used to analyze the collected datas were t-test, one-way ANOVA, multiple correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression analysis and so forth. The following is conlusions brought through these analyzing methods and process in this study. 1. Family income is a personal attribute that influences the participation frequency in mass sports of the physically handicapped. Age and family income are influencial factors on the participation period. sex is a significant factor on the participation intensity. 2. Socializing agents influencing the participation frequency in mass sports of the physically handicapped are physical the apists, the physically handicapped friends of the same sex, the normal friends of the same sex, famous sport players, homeroom teachers / general teachers, brothers and sisters, fathers, and so. Socializing agents influencing the participation period are brothers and sisters, famous sport players, physical therapists, doctors, mothers, the normal friends of the opposite sex, physical education teachers, and so on. Socializing agents influencing the participation intensity are brothers and sisters, famous sport players, homeroom teachers / general teachers, the physically handicapped seniors or juniors, physical education teachers, sons and daughters, physical directors of local communities, and so. 3. Socialization situation influencing the participation period of the physically handicapped in mass sports is the suitability arid effectiveness of program. The nearness and variety of sport facility, as well as the property, interest, efectiveness and variety of programs, are influencial factors in socialization situation for the participation intensity. However, the conditions of facility, directors, and programs exert no significant influence on the participation frequency of the physically handicapped in mass sports.
