“Happy City Sejong” aims to create a design city from the beginning of developing the new town. Creating “Happy City Sejong” as a world class design city in the 21st century is building a special space and taking care of it with style and differentiating the process of making a good city. This is based on a belief that it is not only a driving force to help urban design with style raise the competitiveness of a city most quickly, but also the best way of maximizing the effect of investment.
To realize a new city concept, Happy City Sejong, Design City requires excellence in design. Visual effects of objects in which design values and basic principles are mixed among individual elements without a clear order that makes the whole organic results in a city in chaos. A plan based on individual randomness should be adjusted to a collective value and thereby sublimated into a restrained beuaty.
The concept of World Class Design City, Happy City Sejong seeks an exemplary integrated design that covers plans, designs, and construction stages including urban planning and design, construction plan, environment and landscaping plan, transportation plan, landscaping plan, public art and public design, and plans for a variety of facilities.
The concept also shows the ambitious plan that a new form of urban design paradigm is to be applied to create a dignified urban space. In addition, aiming at creating an urban space for living together that contains universal value of people from all walks of life, the landscape and image of Happy City Sejong pursues for a higher level of dignified design. As dignity comes from integrated value, a restrained and harmonious design follows.
Therefore, Happy City Sejong for a dignified urban design has developed an urban design system that has been applied uniquely to urban wall, central park, and urban structures in accordance with integrated design principles and guidelines on the basis of seven urban landscape projects, integrated image development plan, and master design for public design.
